I am on a wonderful journey of focusing and photographing more newborns. I am so excited about photographing more little ones in the days to come. It is truly such a blessing, as I just adore babies. I mean, what is there not to adore? When they’re sleeping soundly, the precious darlings look their most angelic. Caleb was no exception!
Caleb was only eight days old when we did his newborn shoot. This makes for a once in a lifetime opportunity, as after 14 days, babies tend to remain more awake and are more difficult to pose. This makes the experience even more wonderful and sentimental. This is becoming one of my favourite aspects of newborn photography.
Caleb being their first born, Lauren and Riaan seemed to glow with happiness and excitement as we did the shoot at their home in Durbanville. They are super proud, new parents. With their tiny and precious bundle, I took the utmost care to make sure Caleb was safe, secure and content. He participated beautifully and some special, cute poses were achieved.
Emphasizing his cute poses was the neutral use of colour tones and a change into a cute outfit (I mean seriously, how cute are those bunny ears?!). Everything seemed to harmonize perfectly and I was really pleased with the lighting. In fact, I get so excited about newborn props that I have just started a new business venture offering quality, handmade, knitted props.
Thank you Lauren and Riaan, it was an absolute honour and privilege to be able to photograph your little miracle. Enjoy this wonderful journey of parenthood!
